Encrypt anything, right in your browser.
No sign‑in, no servers, your files never leave your device. Works on laptops, phones and tablets.
Everything you need, in one file
Protect your files
Lock any file with a password or a keyfile, fast and local.
Keyfiles
Create a small file that acts like a super strong key, easy to store separately.
Lockers
Bundle many files into one encrypted container, keep folder details private.
Universal compatibility
Works on any device with a modern browser - laptops, phones, tablets, and more.
Text vault
Encrypt short notes or secrets, copy results in one click.
Offline by design
It is one HTML file, open it in your browser and you are ready to go, even without internet.
How it works
SEP for Web runs entirely in your browser. Files are read locally, processed with modern encryption, then saved back to your device, no uploads, no servers, no telemetry. You can download the app as a single sep.html file and use it offline.
Important notes
- All encryption happens locally, you are responsible for managing passwords and keyfiles.
- There is no password recovery, back up important data before encrypting.
- There is no server rate limiting, a copied encrypted file can be tested many times offline.
- SEP for Web is a university research project, no guarantees are provided about the implementation.
Project status
MVP complete: Core features include file encryption and decryption, keyfiles, lockers, secure delete, text crypto and offline support.
Future ambitions
- Password Library: Built‑in password management and autofill for encrypted files/objects.
- Password Manager Integrations: Explore Bitwarden and others for adding items via their APIs.
